Social construction of reality refers to the theory that the way we present ourselves to others is shaped partly by our interactions with others, as well as by our own life experiences. With that being said, during the sinking ship exercise, most of the people were making decisions to vote people off the boat based on disabilities and usefulness. This is a good example because they believe that it's socially acceptable to kick off the people that show no use to the situation for their own safety. If I put myself in that situation I would of reacted the same which comes to my realization that it's the only socially acceptable thing to do. The difference between a generalization and a stereotype is that a stereoype is defined as a misregarded belief that holds biast against people that are usually true, and because of this are considered to describe the majority of the crowd that describes them. For example: Black people like chicken. A Generalization is an unpresedented biased belief wthout any source of recemendation or understanding whatsoever. For example: That Girl looks weird. Many people these days get judged based off their past or how they present themselves to others for example in the video with Aaron Fotheringham, he gets judged harshly and accused of having "no use to society" until one day he proves everyone wrong when he gets recognized for his hard work. Aaron was mentally strong enough to accept himself which lead to his motivation to master his passion for Wheel Chair Sitting and become recognized world wide. The moral of the story is to never let unfortunate situations stop you from becoming something in life even if that means constantly trying until you master something. Aaron is a good role model for teens around the world with disabilities because he helps them realize that they shouldn't lose hope because in the long run happiness is the result.

Social Mindfulness is when you begin to realize how the things around you influence you're beliefs. For example it's acceptable for a Baseball coach to spit daily during practice but if you were to spit in a class room then you would realize it's weird. The idea behind that is you begin to realize societies norms which leads to the idea of Social Mindfulness. This relates to the idea that once you are aware that you are different then others you begin to accept that and find people whom appreciate you for who you are.

I believe who we are is determined by how we grow up and where we grew up because it has a tremendous impact on they way we see life as a whole. This whole Idea of Social Imagination made me realize that if you were born outside the country, you are somewhat limited to the background information and it's a harder environment to adapt to. Coming from experience, it's safe to say life was different back home in many ways mainly because the education system there wasn't as developed as America's educational system today. When I arrived to America I was given many opportunities such as, the chance to start my life at an earlier age which gave me time to learn and pick up English. To me English was the hardest to learn at first because you can't fit society's norms without being able to communicate in English but, with the help of many friends and families I slowly began understanding it one day at a time. The culture back home was nothing compared to America because some things acceptable there.. weren't acceptable here without being penalized for it. Here I am today thinking about my past and it truly amazes me how much I changed since the first day I arrived in America.
